Heading to Yellowstone at the end of August

Mrs. Rock and Ride and I are going to be spending a week in Yellowstone at the end of August. This trip is kind of a late honeymoon, since we didn't go anywhere right after our wedding, here are the photographer's photos.
We got married in Yosemite at the end of May this year and we decided to spend a week there instead of flying or driving somewhere else. We love Yosemite and it made sense to spend the time there right after the wedding.
Anyways, Yellowstone at the end of August and hopefully I master the art of taking great pictures before we get there. I have been reading Ken Rockwell's tips on how to make great photographs, hope it helps.

I'll simplify the postings for the trip by posting a series (Day 1, Day 2...) instead of a long post. I have learned that I have a hard time finishing or starting a blog post if I know that it would be a long one.

Miniature Saturday Night Live with Photoshop

Here is the orginal image

Here is the modified image.
A miniature me climbing Saturday Night Live in Joshua Tree.

The original photo was taken by my friend Scott, maybe like 4 or 5 years ago. I came across it today and decided to play in Photoshop and I came out with this photo effect.
The effect is called Tiltshift (do a search on Flickr for great examples) and the idea behind it is to make it look like this is photograph of miniatures. This website has a bit more info on it; http://www.tiltshiftmaker.com/. The effect seems to work only when the photos are taken from birds eye view perspective, since that is the way we would view a scene of miniatures.

Can't wait to go out and take some new bouldering pictures with this effect in mind.
